Trip Trap

June 29th, 2009 · No Comments

My Danish mom-in-law may not be into design, but she always manages to introduce me to the most wonderful home accessories.  My favorite so far have to be from Trip Trap, a furniture and home décor firm based in Hadsund, Denmark.  We’ve had their cool coasters and trivets for a few years now, but our […]

Usonian Home in San Francisco

June 29th, 2009 · No Comments

I just noticed this beautiful West Portal home for sale in today’s SF Chronicle.  Though the architect is unknown, it was built in Frank Lloyd Wright’s Usonian style, one he pioneered later in his life in an attempt to design homes for every American.  Constructed in 1954, this 2,344 square foot sits on a corner […]

Jens Risom Lounge Chair

June 29th, 2009 · No Comments

After returning from Denmark, I couldn’t help but scour the local stores for Danish design.  Luckily, I wound up finding this fantastic lounge chair for an unbelievably low price.  Designed in 1941 by Jens Risom, it was part of the first collection of furniture commissioned by the now famous Knoll company.  Manufactured from cotton ribbon […]

June 23rd, 2009 · No Comments

Animal Alarm Clocks

June 18th, 2009 · 7 Comments

I have always loved the look of old fashioned bell alarm clocks, and the animal faces make these perfect for a kid’s room.  I’m partial to the orange monkey clock.  Available for $19 at The Touch, a vintage furniture store in the Mission neighborhood here in San Francisco.

2010 BMW Z4

June 16th, 2009 · 1 Comment

I used to be a big car geek, but since moving to the city that passion has waned.  Nevertheless, I’m still intrigued by automobiles as design.  As I walked past the BMW dealer in San Francisco, this blue beauty caught my eye.  The new 2010 BMW Z4 is gorgeous on paper, but absolutely stunning in […]

Hello from Denmark

June 15th, 2009 · No Comments

We’re finally back from our 10-day voyage to Denmark.  After visiting family and friends, doing a little shopping, touring museums and eating well, I can safely say that Denmark is a design paradise.  It seems that nearly everything in the country is well-thought, efficient and visually pleasing.  I plan many future posts about the goodies […]
