MULA Stacking Rings from IKEA

September 29th, 2010 · 1 Comment

It’s no secret, I love wooden toys.  They just have a certain feel to them that makes playtime seem so much more satisfying.  What is a secret, however, is that IKEA has some classic wooden toys at their typical unbelievable prices.  Their MULA stacking rings are probably my favorite.  The colors are deep and bright and the rings are cut to be just difficult enough to teach kids hand-eye coordination and mechanics.

Available from IKEA for $6.

Hear, hear! Killian went straight to playing with this as soon as he started noticing stackers. It was much more engaging and challenging to him than the cheapo plastic ones since the fit of the rings on the rod is tight, I’d guess about a millimeter or two.

When he finally figured it out he’d be deep in focus and then as each ring went on his whole face would light up and his eyebrows would raise – for a second! – and then he’d intently focus on the next one :)
