For those of us that don’t have a budget of thousands to spend on Christmas gifts, here’s a list of goodies that are just as cool. I like my house to be filled only with the things I love, from chairs to coffee cups to trash cans. If I don’t enjoy seeing it every day, [...]

Houses by Julia Baum
November 7th, 2009 · No Comments
Photographer Julia Baum has snapped a wonderful new series called Houses, documenting how homeowners have made unique their identically constructed 1950’s Santa Clara homes. While driving around our old neighborhood it was always interesting to see when houses were the same underneath yet full of personality and charm on the outside.

Noe Valley Modern

Located just down the street from our house, this modern Noe Valley home is a perfect example of how to combine contemporary lines with a natural feel. Stokke Tripp Trapp

I don’t have any children (yet), but I’m nevertheless fascinated by high quality products for kids. My Danish mom-in-law may not be into design, but she always manages to introduce me to the most wonderful home accessories. My favorite so far have to be from Trip Trap, a furniture and home décor firm based in Hadsund, Denmark. We’ve had their cool coasters and trivets for a few years now, but our [...]
Colorful Wedge Doorstops
June 20th, 2009 · No Comments
It’s another hot and sunny day in San Francisco, and our old house doesn’t have AC. I love having the windows open, but it means the door to our kitchen keeps slamming shut in the breeze. If only I’d purchased one of these awesome doorstops I spotted in Denmark, I wouldn’t have this problem. Designed [...]

Animal Alarm Clocks
June 18th, 2009 · No Comments
I have always loved the look of old fashioned bell alarm clocks, and the animal faces make these perfect for a kid’s room. I’m partial to the orange monkey clock. Available for $19 at The Touch, a vintage furniture store in the Mission neighborhood here in San Francisco.
